Biography

Yazmin is an independent film producer and actor who began her journey in film as a writer and development intern at a number of British independent production companies including Vertigo Films, Amber Entertainment, Root Films and 42 Management and Productions. She has previously written and developed projects for What Larks! Productions and worked as a part of the selection team at BAFTA Rocliffe. Yazmin was associate producer on the fantasy drama La Lune Folle (2016) in which she also played the leading role of Cary after director Meneka Das approached her to audition for the role. The film tells the story of a young woman haunted by loss, who has no choice but to face her fear when she auditions for a prestigious classical music conservatoire. The film was written and directed by Meneka Das and stars BAFTA winning actor Dame Sian Phillips. Yazmin will be stepping up as writer, actor and producer for her short film Mermaids, which tells the story of two twenty-something former best friends who reunite at a hen do back in Cornwall. In 2017, she was selected as a part of Widening the Lens, a training scheme run by Encounters Film Festival nurturing diverse filmmakers.
