Biography

Greg Cayea is the Guinness World Record holder for Longest Journey by Car in a Single Country. He was born in 1984 in Long Island, New York. By the age of fourteen, he had been kicked out of his family's home and placed in various rehabs, treatment centers, wilderness programs, and finally, Hidden Lake Academy: an insane therapeutic boarding school (now shut down) in the Appalachian Mountains of Georgia. He escaped after three years and hitchhiked the country, lived on the street, squatted in random college dorm rooms, and eventually worked his way to obtaining his GED in Colorado. He began working as a salesman and studying martial arts in his late teens. He enrolled in a community college in Boulder before moving back to New York at the age of twenty, where he pursued an acting career. He enrolled at The Atlantic Acting Conservatory and was represented by Myrna Jacoby of William Morris, and continued to act in New York theatre and independent films until his addiction side-tracked him to scotch, cocaine, and selling drugs. On October 15th of 2011, when he was twenty-seven years old, he got sober in Los Angeles and began writing his first book: No Direction Home. During the next five years, he built a public relations agency and became the go-to publicist for female DJs, representing a plethora of famous musicians, writers, and producers. Finally, he set sail to break the Guinness World Record for Longest Journey by Car in a Single Country and received his official induction into the Guinness Book on November 9th of 2016. The journey lasted 122 days, 36,123 miles, and brought him to every state and city in the United States. Since then he has become a well-known travel writer and has written for Playboy, ELLE, Bravo, USA Today, Vie, PopSugar, and others, and his various travel adventures have continued to be featured on Today, ABC, CBS, Time Magazine, Business Insider, Lonely Planet, and Travel + Leisure to name a few. He updates his controversial blog, Scrambled Gregs, weekly, and lives in Beacon with his Fiancé, and dog Lola.
