Joshua Benson is a writer and director hailing from upstate NY. He graduated from Brandeis University with a double major in Politics and Theatre Arts. Before turning to film, Josh spent time working manual labor while balancing his ambitions in the theater and as a musician, a path that led him to score multiple films in addition to working at the famed Living Theatre in New York City. He eventually turned his interest to filmmaking, decamping for London to complete his MA at The London Film School.
The connection between nature and humanity is a prevalent theme that extends across all of Josh's work, something borne of his travels throughout the open spaces of the Dakotas and the American West. Landscapes feature heavily in his images as a still photographer and the natural world has provided much of the inspiration for his efforts as a writer and filmmaker.
Josh's films have featured at film festivals worldwide, including the Aesthetica Film Festival, Encounters Film Festival, and Austin Film Festival; Previous selected works include the small town drama "Queen Luck", science fiction piece "Zaire", experimental film "London NGC 6744", and the naturalist drama "The Traveler MacWhirr".
