Biography

Ian Davies has worked in the film business since 2001. He set up Initialize Films, a consultancy and packaging service for film producers in 2005. Initialize is commissioned by national film funds such as Creative Scotland, British Film Institute (through Skillset, the training arm), Screen Australia, Film NZ, Danish Film Institute, Swedish Film Institute, Finnish Film Foundation, Norwegian Film Institute and Irish Film Board to help producers package their projects by connecting and brokering agreements with financiers, talent agents, sales agents and distribution companies. Through these commissions Ian has worked on more than 40 feature films, many of which have gone on to win awards, including '71, Starred Up, The English Surgeon, Sunshine Superman and helped set up a number of TV projects including the Outlander TV series. See www.initialize-films.co.uk for more information. Ian worked as an assessor for several film development funds from 2001 - 2010 (Media, the pan-European fund, Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Film and TV - now Northern Ireland Screen) and was Screenwriting Tutor for Oxford University's Masters course in Creative Writing from 2007 - 2010. In 2012 Ian set up the Boudica Films with Rebecca Long. Boudica is a finance and production facility which supports female-centric projects. Boudica has co-financed 7 feature films since 2013 often in partnership with BFI, BBC and Creative Scotland, with the first 3 films gaining 3 BAFTA nominations for actors Ruth Negga, Elena Anaya and Elizabeth McGovern and a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit for Florence Pugh.
