Biography

Sarim Momin, pronounced as Saarim Momin is the lyricist for many popular Bollywood movies including Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar, Rann, Sholay (Aag), Darling, EMI, Go, Shabri & D, Bhagam Bhaag, Hide and Seek, The Film, Agyaat to name a few, working with music directors like Pritam, Prasanna Shekhar, Chirantan Bhatt, Bapi Tutul, Siddharth-Suhas and Amar Mohile. Started as an Urdu Poet, he penned the INDIA song for the cricket world cup 2004 sung by Hamza Faruqui and composed by Wasim Desai. He has also written many advertisements for India, UK, Europe and UAE. Sarim was recently surrounded with national controversy due to the Jana Gann Mana Rann Hai song he wrote for Ram Gopla Verma's Rann. He has worked with likes of Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Ghoshal, Sukhwinder Singh, Shweta Pandit, Hamza Faruqui, Mohit Chauhan, Zubin, Farhad Bhiwandiwala, Babul Supriyo, Sonu Kakkad, Bombay Viking, Alisha Chinoy, Priyadarshani, Leslie Lewis, Ravindra Upadhyay, Vinod Rathor etc. He is working with Lucky Ali on his new album. Other upcoming films are Allah Ke Banday, Shabri, Rakta Charitra, Ram Gopal Varma's '340', The Green Chick (an animated film) etc. 'Allah-Ke-Banday' is another project where Sarim Momin is a lyricist, co-dialogue writer and Associate Director. The film stars Sharman Joshi, Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, etc. Sarim Momin has provided lyrics for Music Albums of Rishabh Tandon (Phir se wahi, Duuriyan), Panna Gill, etc.
