Alberto Caviglia

Biography

He graduated magna cum laude in Humanities (Liberal Arts and Philosophy) from DAMS University in Rome, with a thesis on David Cronenberg, and completed his film education with courses at "NY Film Academy" and "London Film School". From 2006 on he worked as an assistant director for Ferzan Ozpetek while fostering his passion for photography which lead to his 2011 degree from the Scuola Romana di Fotografia (Roman School of Photography). In 2015 he made his cinematic debut with "Pecore in Erba" (Burning Love), a surreal first feature length movie that tackles, for the first time, the theme of antisemitism with satire. The movie was premiered at the 72nd Venice film festival in competition in the Orizzonti category. The movie won the "Arca Cinema Giovani" award as best Italian movie and the "Civets Vitae" award.
