Biography

Deena Trudy was born Deena Trudy Goldberg in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Her father Henry Goldberg, the son of two Holocaust survivors, obtained a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University and mother Kaya Barr (Goldberg), born in Mobile, Alabama is a psychology major and homemaker. Trudy is the oldest of three children and her brothers, Paul and Michael, are fraternal twins. At age 12, Trudy's parents divorced, and she was left to help care for her younger siblings. She began getting in trouble with the law in Arizona and after numerous arrests, her crimes lander her in a long-term locked juvenile facility. Trudy had committed multiple assaults, drug trafficking and various weapons charges, causing her to be sent to a unit for violent offenders. She was regularly housed in solitary confinement and was released on her 18th birthday, closely missing a transfer to adult prison. After her release from Arizona Juvenile Correction's care, Trudy made the decision to change her life. She got a degree in Business and planned to move forward with a career in marketing but was more interested in acting and film production. Hitting Arizona's independent film circuit acting, Trudy was chosen for roles in features, shorts and local commercials. Trudy's first time on the big screen was in the 2007 Warner Bros. film Lucky You as an extra featured poker player. Her mother, an excellent poker player, taught her how to play Texas hold 'em at age 9 and would occasionally bring her along to casinos to watch the games. This knowledge caused Trudy to stand out among the other actors auditioning for a Full Tilt Poker commercial in 2011 where she was the only female player chosen for the commercial. Trudy's skill set, knowledge of production and overall life experiences thus far have given her the tools to become one of the most unique and successful filmmakers of the 21st century. One turning point in Trudy's career occurred when she co-created, produced and directed a web series, Toke N' Choke Dispensary beginning in 2013. She directed several short projects following the series and her unique perspective has intrigued audiences around the world. Trudy recently directed the feature film version of Toke N' Choke Dispensary, bringing in new cast members and an element of crime never seen before in a marijuana related movie. Most recently, Trudy is working on multiple film, TV, web and virtual reality projects. Trudy resides in Los Angeles, California and has her own production company, Toke N' Choke Entertainment.
