Biography

Djemba Djemba was born in 1944 in Coast del Aksin D'agar, in Senegal. Since his twenties, cinema has been a great part of his life. A great actor, he surprised the cinema world by bringing some of the most original techniques to filmmaking, such as recording with very poor budget (as the critics of the "Cahiers du Cinéma" said: "he can film with a bread bag"). His most controversial work is the crepuscular "The egg's sunset in the upside down ramp", a cult experiment in motion picture. Besides its rare condition (there's only one survival copy and some bootleg prints), it is reported as the main African picture of all-time, and influenced many directors, like Alejandro Jodorowsky and Takashi Miike.
