Biography

Matthew Brown has extensive experience within the public and private sectors and has industry experience with investments in real estate, as well as renewable and traditional energy industries. Prior to Energent, Matthew spent the previous five years at Tamra-Tacoma Capital Partners, a New York-based multi-family office, where he was a Founder and Managing Director. Matthew was responsible for creating accretive, long-term partnerships with developers, utilities, OEMs and consolidation vehicles, as well as co-leading direct investments in 1,000+ MW of renewable energy generation on behalf of family offices in the U.S. and Europe. Prior to Tamra-Tacoma, Matthew was a Senior Adviser to PACE, a U.S. bi-partisan special energy financing district providing innovative means of financing energy-efficient improvements for residential, commercial and industrial properties where he worked closely with the University of California, Berkeley and the Department of Energy to lead the development of the first PACE program nationwide and the commercialization of $1 billion in federal financing. Prior to Matthew's involvement with PACE, Matthew was the Private Wealth Manager and the Managing Director of Epplament Energy where he raised, managed and deployed $300 million in participating family wealth for renewable investments in the United States and Canada. Prior to Epplament, Matthew was the Private Wealth Manager and Managing Director at Lestis Wind, Hydro & Solar where he raised, managed and deployed $150 million in participating family wealth for renewable investments in the United States. Matthew founded The Frankfurt Group & Holdings, an entertainment conglomerate holding company headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, that oversees and manages a number of subsidiary companies, specifically focusing on film financing, development, and distribution. The Frankfurt Group leverages many financing mechanisms including debt, gap/supergap, and equity financing, as well as private equity, liquid and hedge funds to acquire companies and projects (particularly films) and provide them with the necessary capital, management, and business development to grow their infrastructure while still maintaining a controlling interest in the secured acquisition, often by serving as a co-producer and/or executive producer, thus his involvement with Loose Change alongside Mark Cuban. Matthew is on the board of several non-profits and has been an Adviser and/or Contributor to the University of California Berkeley's Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory (RAEL), Berkeley; Texas Tech University's Wind Institute (NWI); the Department of Energy; as well as GE Capital and KPMG. Matthew attended Texas Christian University where he studied Entrepreneurial Management.
