Woodie Fryman

After growing up on his family's tobacco farm, he continued to work there and played in local semi-professional baseball leagues. Fryman did not sign his first professional baseball contract with a major league organization until age 25. He used his strong left arm to throw very good fastballs and curveballs. It was the curveball that caused him to develop arthritis in his left elbow that finished his career.
