Cheuk was born in Hong Kong. He graduated from the School of Film and TV of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in directing. After graduation, he worked for both Hong Kong and international productions in directing department, e.g. Lust Caution (2007), Claustrophobia (2008), etc. In 2009, Cheuk was selected to participate in the very first Golden Horse Film Academy of the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival. The short film Boyfriend of Xiaozhen which produced by Hou Hsiao-Hsien, were co-directed by him and other young Chinese filmmakers and it was screened at the Festival. In 2010, his short A Dream was selected by Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and 2010 Hong Kong Independent Film Festival. My Way, Cheuk's first feature-length documentary was commissioned by CNEX Foundation. It was theatrical released in Hong Kong in late 2012. The work was selected by several festivals and screened in London, Taipei, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Hangzhou; it received the nomination of Best New Director in the 13th Chinese Film Media Awards. Cheuk is the winner of Award for Young Artist (Film) in Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2013. Now, Cheuk is working on his second documentary about traditional Chinese theatre practitioners, which is commissioned by Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
