Daniel E. Moxon

Daniel Moxon grew up in Kelowna, BC. From 2000-2004, he went to Simon Fraser University where he graduated with a Major in Film. Switching gears however from filmmaker to composer, Daniel started arranging the music for student films in 2002. After graduating, Dan's main focus was touring and recording with his main musical project Bend Sinister, though he also continued to work freelance as a composer. In 2005 he started working with a media design group out of Simon Fraser University and built them a sound library of over 400 songs to use in their promotional projects and documentaries. During this time he also scored two feature documentaries for the university, From the Heart in 2006 and The Fraser River Journey in 2008, Both of which aired on CBC television. In 2007 Daniel received his first critical success as a composer when She's a boy I knew, a film he scored picked up 'best Canadian film' at Viff. Daniel has continued to balance touring and writing for his musical projects with composing for all sorts of films/TV/video over the years. He took a break in 2010 to move to Toronto with Bend Sinister winning a 50,000 prize for being voted in the Top 3 of the Peak Performance Project, but then returned to scoring after a year of touring in 2011, working again for SFU as well as scoring another feature film, Carl Bessai's Sisters and Brothers. In 2012 Dan won a Leo Award for Best feature length film score for Sisters and Brothers, and continues to work freelance as a musician in the Vancouver area.
