Biography

Ma-an L. Asuncion was born in the city of San Fernando Pampanga, Philippines on July 31, 1973. She had her elementary and high school at St. Scholastica's Academy of Pampanga and had attained a degree in Communications Arts at St. Paul University, Quezon City, Philippines. At Mowelfund Film Institute, she attended Cinematography class (2003) under Lee Meily and Mexican Filmmaking (2006) under the Mexican Director, Gustavo Loza. In 2018, she attended the Ricky Lee's Script Writing Workshop where she finished her script entitled, "Blue Room". Ma-an apprenticed with Director Erik Matti and also with Cinematographer Boy Yniguez. The first full length film feature where she was a cinematographer, a co-writer, and a co-producer was "Layang Bilanggo", which reaped four major awards in 6th Cinema One Original Digital Film Festival in 2010 --- Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenplay
