Beth Duke came to film work as a way to create economic development in her community. As a recognized community leader, Beth and her partners transformed a once blighted urban area into a thriving hub with loft housing and retail establishments. Two of her development projects, "The Cannery" and the "2nd Street Public Market" added over 200 residents and thousands of visitors to a now restored historic warehouse district in downtown Dayton.
After researching how the film business has transformed other towns, Beth recognized its potential for the Dayton area. She formed a group to organize and support the local film community. Now the group is known as "Film Dayton." Beth says, "Moving from real estate development to film development was fairly easy since the business structures of both industries are so similar, right down to the tax credits.
Beth also enjoys her work with one of Hollywood's top screen writing consultants, Dara Marks. She plans and produces "Engaging the Feminine Heroic" workshops for Dara and partner Deb Norton.
Beth works from her office in her historic Dayton estate home Red Oak which has also served as a location for several films and TV commercials. When Beth is not at her desk she is in her studio creating oil-on-canvas abstract paintings that can be seen in Primavera Gallery in Ojai, California.
