Nick Thiel was born in Madison, Wisconsin on September 1st 1979.
Thiel was inspired by James Cameron's "Terminator 2" to go into filmmaking. At 14 years old he got is first video camera and starting making short movies with his friends. In the following years, he studied acting at the highly respected South Coast Repertory for two years, excelling in its acting program.
Thiel earned a certificate in Video/Production in the local High School ROP Program where he also submitted his short films to the Costa Mesa, CA public access channel.
Thiel continued to excel and follow his dream, studying Film Production and Photography at Orange Coast College before attending the Art Institute Of Los Angeles - California. At this university, Thiel flourished in the Video Production program, winning awards at the school's video festivals. He won five awards and for his work including Best Short film, Best Directing, Best Narrative, and Audience Favorite. He graduated with a degree in Video Production and ten shorts under his belt.
Since graduating, Thiel has worked on commercials and continued to make films under his independent film company, IP Films.
