Biography

Born in Culver City, California, Perry Jackson was interested in acting at a very young age. However, due to the guidance of his parents, before embarking on a career in acting, he aspired to higher education. He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Having been an athlete in both basketball and football in high school, he walked-on the football team in his freshman year. This venture turned out to be short-lived; however, as he decided at the end of the year to leave the team in order to pursue theater full-time. While at school, he performed in a multitude of theater productions, and used this experience to apply for the J. William Fulbright scholarship to the United Kingdom for Performing Arts. Though he reached the Finalist stage, he did not receive the coveted award. After graduating with a B.A. in Classical Studies, he returned home to get his start in Hollywood. Following a casual interest in producing, he worked for a few production companies before deciding to fully focus on acting as a career. He applied to theater schools in the States this time, and eventually chose to attend the American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theatre School Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University. Before graduating, he appeared in two main-stage productions, including Julius Caesar and the first-ever staging of Richard Kelly's Donnie Darko, as Frank the Rabbit. With this new experience and training, he chose to forego the Broadway route, and returned once again to L.A. to launch his film career, this time in front of the camera. Most recently, he is foraying into screenwriting, with his first feature length screenplay due to be completed in the summer of 2011.
