Manny Merchan

Biography

Manny Merchan obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Production from California State University, Northridge where he wrote, produced and directed three short films. His senior thesis film was selected as Best Film in the CSUN Senior Showcase held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2000. He rounded out his education with a collection of internships with companies such as Joe Singer Productions, Universal and Dreamworks SKG. Since then, Manny has worked at Pop Flash Productions as a staff editor, gathering experience at every level of post production. He edits on the AVID Media Composer, and is certified in advanced editing techniques, troubleshooting and effects. His first major editing job was an 18 camera concert for The Red Hot Chili Peppers for Warner Bros. Records. Since that initial job, Manny has worked extensively with music labels including Interscope Records, Geffen Records, Arista-Nashville, Dreamworks Records, Trauma Records and many others. In addition to his editorial work, Manny has Directed a number of projects including commercials for El Cholo Restaurant, Dona Rosa Restaurant and Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, and a CD release spot from the band Boston. He has also directed special projects such as the concert back screens for The Eagles and industrial showcases for Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap, ZILA Neutraceuticals, UPAC of San Diego and The Society of Singers charity.
