Biography

Sean is a naturalized US citizen and went through puberty in the Pacific Northwest. He is an alumni of the NYU General Studies Program and Gallatin School of Individualized Study and studied for four years at the Hunter College, City University of New York, Integrated Media Art Program, where he Sean rediscovered improvisational comedy at the Stand Up Comedy with Chris Griggs from the Peoples Improv Theater (2020). During his grad years, he wrote and produced Is There Anything Else? (2009) for Asian American Film Lab and experimental documentaries My License to Remain (2010), Seven One Eight, Eight Two Five, Sixty Forty-Two (2009) and A Better Tomorrow (2010), which center around themes of immigration identity. After leaving Hunter, he began pursuing training in the Ward Studio Meisner and played leads in three short Columbia University films. Mr. A (2008) which was nominated for best writing by Student Academy Awards, and The Queen (2010) which won the UK Iris Prize. He is also known as Nikola from The Science of Blowjobs and Throbbing Hearts (2011) by Norwegian student filmmaker and YouTuber Stian Hafstad. Sean moved to Portland in 2015 to complete naturalization, and was cast as Sean Tarjyoto on the Hulu series Shrill (2019), produced Elizabeth Banks, Lorne Michaels and Aidy Bryant. He can also be spotted in the Netflix shows American Vandal (2017), Trinkets (2019) and two-season appearances on the IFC series Portlandia (2011).
