Biography

Film and television director, writer, producer and editor Dean I. Anderson was born and educated in Ripon, North Yorkshire, England, UK. His consuming passion for cinematography began in his formative years. As an amateur and student film-maker he won a string of prestigious awards for three television documentary dramas. Prior to that he won awards for Speech and Drama from the London College of Music. The first of these was a Silver International Award for A Journey Into Darkness (1989). His second work, Peace and Quiet (1991), won a Silver International Award and a Scottish International Top 8 Award. It also won the awards for Best Film, Best Photography and Best Creative Use of Sound in the Yorkshire and North East Film Awards. Completing the trio of award-winning dramas was Someone's Life (1992), which was given a prime time viewing slot on America's Cable TV channel. This work won an International Gold Seal Award, and it also won awards for Best Photography and Best Edited Drama in the Yorkshire and North East Film Awards. After breaking prize-winning records at regional level and winning awards at national and international film festivals, Dean won yet another accolade. In 1993, he was voted Yorkshire Entrepreneur of the Year with Yorkshire Accountants. Following these numerous triumphs, he turned professional. Anderson's professional interest in the horror genre culminated with the launch, in 2004, of his own horror production company, Tick The Box Productions Limited. The company specialises in creating films for international horror markets, all directed and produced by Anderson who also writes the screenplays. There are currently a number of projects in the pipeline. A major work in progress is Anderson's adult vampire horror drama, Out Of The Night, with its high blood count. The film's opening timeframe storyline is set in 1884, later switching to the modern day. Having last year completed post-production of the film's Victorian scenes at ITV1 Yorkshire, Television Centre, Leeds, West Yorkshire, Anderson's attention now focuses on getting the modern day scenes shot. He is also simultaneously working on a smaller film project with the working title of "Zombie Racket Girl." Pre-shooting photography is already under way for this adult horror drama aimed at the American market.
