Marjan Alizadeh

Marjan Alizadeh is a Law graduate from the University of Shahid Beheshti, Tehran. She started her cinematic career in the year 2002 in the international distribution center for Cima Media International (CMI), a semi-private company that produced and marketed Iranian films, and television productions. She continued her career with working in Sheherazad Media International private company active in the worldwide distribution of Iranian movies. In 2013 she established the International distribution department of Iran Novin Film. She introduced many talented directors especially the youth to the cinema world with revealing their film in Film Festivals and has broadcast-ed films in Channel , ARTE, NHK , LINK TV , Astro, Kanal 7 , ... .Marjan Alizadeh has been the jury member in " Third Eyes Mumbai Film festival " 2012 in India. Following 10 years of experience in International Distribution of Iranian movies, Marjan Alizadeh established Iran ArtHouse Film which is involved in marketing & promotion of Iranian independent feature ,documentary and short films and fuses innovations with creativity to empower youth, artists, audiences, and innovators globally. Marjan is also a renowned writer ( Novel & Haiku Poems) and has made 2 movies till now. Marjan wrote and published her first collection of Haiku poems with the title, "Night on the Ground". The book was very well attended. Her first Novel Book named (Some Months and Eights Days) , the book is printed in October 2015 and after publishing the book in the web sites, (Some Months and Eights Days) was very well received all around Iran. She studied directing and writing with a French director who was temporarily residing in Iran. She made her debut in filmmaking in the year 2005 with a documentary titled "God's Joke" which looks at fortune telling in the Iranian society. The film was screened at more than 10 international festivals and was broadcast-ed twice from a Finnish TV channel. She won the awards for Best Director and Best Script from the Sundance Film Festival for her short drama, "Men Understand Each Other Better" in 2007. The film was also selected for publication by the Journal of Short Film Publishing as one of the best short films and was published by this company in the 8th Volume of the short films collection DVD series. Meanwhile, She directed her first feature documentary in the year 2009, titled "Persian Catwalk". The film was screened at more than 30 international festivals and brought much success for Marjan. She won the award for Best Directing and Best Documentary from the Vesoul International Film Festival in France and Best Directing from the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh and won the Best Director and Special Jury awards of the Suva Island's Festival in the category of documentary productions. Marjan wrote the script of "Atieh" - 2010 - which was directed by an Iranian director in the same year. The film is about an 8 year girl facing the dilemmas around her father's second marriage and the entrance of a second woman into her house. "For Asal" was written in 2011 - which tells the story of a woman who unwillingly alters her life by deciding to get an abortion. In the same year, Marjan wrote for renowned Iranian director, Mehrdad Farid, on the script for "Bita's Impatience". Until now she has wrote about 11 script for Iranian well known directors.
