Robert Ham

As a young boy Robert would sit on the lap of his great grandmother as she told him her experiences of her escape and survival of the Armenian genocide. With great passion and a vivid memory she would recount how she watched her whole family systematically massacred. From that moment on Robert realized there was only one thing he wanted to do with the rest of his life, tell stories. Storied that touch people emotionally and move people to action and change. Robert is a Los Angeles native and received his Bachelor of Arts in film in 2005. He spent much of his undergrad and post-undergrad traveling the world, from Israel and Palestinian refugee camps, to Thailand and throughout Europe, to Hong Kong and Mexico. In his travels Robert discovered a massive world of untold stories and desired to do something about it. In 2007 he felt a call to serve his country and joined the Army as a combat documentarian/filmmaker. During his service Robert deployed to Afghanistan for a year and then traveled to countries throughout Asia and the Pacific telling military stories (Sri Lanka, India, Kazakstan, Kuwait, Australia, New Zealand, Marshall Islands, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, Thailand). During Robert's service he earned two Emmys (2013) and three DOD Military Videographer of the Year (2009, 2012, 2013) awards for his work. After leaving the service Robert used his G.I. Bill to attend the USC School of Cinematic Arts and directed many narrative short films that have gone on to film festivals. He currently has a series of award-winning documentary shorts on HULU and Amazon Prime and has recently been nominated for an Emmy (fifth nomination) for a documentary short called the Pacific Soldier narrated by acclaimed actor Max Martini. In 2016 Robert was named a Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar, a highly prestigious national scholarship. Robert now works as a freelance filmmaker and has recently served as various roles on a variety of projects for such producers as Robert Zemeckis, Oscar/Grammy/Emmy winning James Moll and Peter Berg, and production companies such as We Are The Mighty, Film 44/45, TV4 Entertainment, Got Your Six and All Warrior Network. Robert's most recent freelance project for Got Your Six featured the stories of four women veterans featuring actress Michelle Monaghan.
