Aaron Aames

Aaron Aames is a veteran character actor best known for his portrayal of the hilarious gender confusing role of (Renee, the pregnant man) on Mad About You (1992) playing opposite Paul Reiser. His characters have ranged from respected religious figures to evil child labor bosses. But with Aaron Aames' portrayal of a highly distraught fashion designer who learns his precious designs have gone on sale for TJ Maxx, well all hell breaks loose, literally. A major campaign against the commercial and TJ Maxx was initiated by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation(GLADD). The character was thought to be extremely offensive to gays and lesbians everywhere because of the stereotypical implications portrayed in the commercial. The ad was pulled and a formal apology was issued by the company. Aaron's work may have been controversial at the time but watching it today one must think, "what was the big deal?" Aaron's early years started in a small rural community in Canada where he dreamed of one day living in LA and working on TV. Aaron came to Hollywood in 1993 after ten years living in Toronto where he got his start in Theatre and Film acting. He went by his real name Kevin E. Ross until changing it with the actors union in 2000. His parents are Earl and Mary Ross.
