Biography

Born in New York City, Speed attended Yale University in Connecticut, where he spent most of his time acting and directing plays. After school, he taught at the American School in Tangier, Morocco. Several jobs came after that, including working on a fishing boat, on an archaeological dig in Rome, and bar tending. From 1996 - 1998, Speed worked as an advance-man for President Clinton, traveling the country and the world to set up Presidential visits. After that, he settled into writing science pieces for magazines, from Discover to National Geographic Adventure to Playboy, among many others. Speed moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and quickly fell in love with television writing, which has been his career since. He lives with his wife and triplet daughters just outside of Los Angeles. Speed is a nickname his parents gave him the day he was born. He has used it his whole life.
