Christian rapper Red Dott, is a rapper from Pioneer City, Maryland representing the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia). This good music feel rapper brings a lot to the game. Dott has made his start winning local school talent shows and being favored by his peers because of his hot rhymes and lyricism. In the winter of 2002, he won the most popular talent show of them all, "Amateur Night" at the world famous Apollo Theatre, winning over a R&B singer and a hip-hop group.
The Showtime at the Apollo appearance positioned Dott for other television appearances. In 2006, Dott participated in the "Freestyle Friday Battle" on BET's 106 and Park. There he was a multiple champion making it to the final rounds, which solidified his destiny. While making waves on BET's 106 & Park, Dott also responded to a MTV casting call for the 1000 MC Battle, making it to the final round and finishing as the first runner-up. At that point, he became the first unsigned artist to simultaneously appear on two major TV networks. Dott's other television credits are as follows: MTV's Direct Effect with La La and DJ Clue; BET Rap City:The Basement hosted by Tigger.
Dott has also taken advantage of opportunities to open for major rap artists in Washington, DC at the famous 9:30 Club. These artists include Kanye West, Twista, Petey Pablo, and J Kwon. He has also taken the stage on the 2003 "Roc the Mic Tour" headlined by Jay Z and 50 Cent. In 2005, he performed consecutively on the "Dirty South Invasion Tour" with Drag-On and Three 6 Mafia, the "BET College Tour" with Lil' Mo, and the Howard University Homecoming concert with The Diplomats and Young Guns.
But the greatest accomplishment of his life was when he gave his life to Christ in 2007, and God begun to open his eyes. After struggling with his calling in the ministry and the things of the world, this rapper rededicated his life back to Christ and now presents to the world the souled out for Christ rapper he is today. His music is bridging the gap between secular and Christian music. Although he is deeply rooted in the church, his appeal and swagg enables him to reach all people with the type of music you can feel - if you're a real person.
