Alexandra Taylor was born in London and spent the first ten years of her life there. Then the family moved to Wales and she spent her teenage years communing with a wide variety of animals - from hamsters to horses, ducks to donkeys - and turning vegetarian. She also took part in annual school Eisteddfodau, school and village choirs, school orchestra and wrote the school play.
After a gap year, in which she traveled round Europe and learned to touch type, she spent three years studying English at the University of Birmingham, where she was heavily involved in GTV, the student television station.
This led to a career in the media, working for a number of independent production companies as well as the BBC, including significant stints at the Open University and the Asian Programmes Unit. This included project managing and scriptwriting for television, radio, online and educational material across a variety of channels.
A change of career then led Alex into teaching English as a Second Language at various colleges in Birmingham, UK. She continues to do this, whilst working as a freelance writer on a variety of stage and screen projects.
