Biography

Tim Shields is a police officer with the RCMP who lives in the Vancouver area. He has held positions including detachment commander, patrol officer and financial crimes investigator. His passion for photography and video production led to the concept of a documentary film about the linkage between auto theft and drug addiction. This project began in 2005 through a partnership between the RCMP and Odd Squad Productions. At the time, Tim Shields was in charge of the IMPACT Bait Car Program. He began compiling dramatic police video from bait car thefts and posting them to the bait car website. He also started going out on duty with a video camera and filming the arrest of car thieves. This footage was used for the documentary film Stolen Lives that featured the real life stories of five car thieves. The finished award winning film has been seen by high school students across North America. Tim Shields photography is well known in the Vancouver area. He specializes in landscapes, mountains, ocean and sunsets. He holds a master's degree in criminal justice and is married with children.
