Hee-chul Kwon

Biography

Hee chul Kwon was born in Seoul, South Korea. After frequenting 4 different universities, he finally studied and graduated from film school from Chung-Ang University. He worked as Assistant Director for a few feature length films, and made several of his own shorts, went to several film festivals. He then decided to go to America and studied acting and choreography at CalArts , film Directing Program in California. He made several short films at CalArts which participated at a few film festivals in the US, and finally made his first feature length film, "Secret Lover" with ultra low budget. He wrote other feature length scripts in film companies in Korea and taught at Seoul Intitute of the Arts and Chung Ang University that he graduated. He also worked as a programmer at the Seoul international Youth film Festival. Than he made second feature length film Exist, Not Exist:Zero Tolerance For Silence (2021) and a short piece Call (The) Girl almost at the same time during the Covid-19. Two movies have been Shown from around the world in small film festivals and waiting for the announcement from bigger festivals in the US in 2021-2. After watching Valerie and her week of wonder, Double life of Veronique, Blade Runner and Time of the gypsies, he decided to continue making films. He is preparing a feature length film titled 'All The Playboys go to Heaven' which will be a second English feature film and his third feature and 'Struggle to Survive' another feature in Korean. He is wlso writing 'Screen Z' in Korean.
