Biography

Nikos Nikolopoulos was born in Athens, Greece in 1976. At the age of eleven he set up his first dark room. Since 2000, he works as set photographer in Greek and international feature films and theater shows, counting more than forty collaborations in film and more than twenty in theater. Among others, he has worked with Theodoros Angelopoulos The Other Sea, Pantelis Voulgaris Nyfes "Mikra Anglia" , Jeremy Podeswa "Fugitive Pieces", Lefteris Voyatzis Cleansed , Dimitris Papaioannou Primal Matter. He also works as light designer in theater and as cinematographer in films and commercials. From 2011 to 2012 he lived and worked in Istanbul, as part of a personal photographic project. His work has been published in various magazines and newspapers such as The New York Times, La Repubblica, Positif, Rolling Stone, American Cinematographer, Cahiers du Cinéma, K by Kathimerini, E by Eleftherotypia. In 2014, he completed his first feature film Polk , co-directed with Vladimir Nikolouzos , which premiered at the 55th Thessaloniki Film Festival in November 2014, receiving a FIPRESCI special mention award. He was nominated for the Best new director award at the 2015 Hellenic Film Academy awards.
