Tom Godwin

Biography

Born in Scarborough, raised in London, Tom trained in Paris at the Lecoq school under Jacques Lecoq and continues to work with some of the most inspiring people in Theatre, TV and Film, including playing the Porter to Sir Ken Branagh's Macbeth and most recently with Phyllida Lloyd as Phil Spector in the original cast of Tina, the Tina Turner Musical. In TV and Film, highlights include appearing in Taboo with Tom Hardy, Alice Through the Looking Glass with Johnny Depp and The Last Dragonslayer with Anna Chancellor, and for 9 episodes as Drew Spellman on Coronation Street. After completing his A-levels in '94 he spent a good deal of the following 7 years studying, working and creating theatre abroad in Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo, Tashkent, Porto and New York. On relocating back to London he set about creating new work as part of Blow Up Theatre taking shows to the Edinburgh Festival and touring the UK. Early roles in TV and Theatre kept him afloat as did teaching movement in many of the UK's top drama schools until he was cast as part of the original company of ENRON produced by Headlong Theatre. This in turn lead to an ongoing creative partnership with his agents, Scott Marshall Partners and new work at the National Theatre, Royal Court, Young Vic, Shakespeare's Globe, Park Avenue Armory NYC and West End Theatres. Alongside his acting training at the Lecoq school he studied with Pascal Lecoq and Grikor Belekian at the L.E.M and works as a Movement Director and Movement Consultant. This movement work is varied and wide ranging and includes motion capture at the Imaginarium Studios, assisting the inspirational Scott Ambler at the National Theatre and Movement Coaching stunt performers on Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
