Biography

After moving to New York in 2001 Scott began making a name for himself, becoming a regular fixture at The Knitting Factory, CBGB's, and The Wetlands Preserve. After a brief stint with Particle on the west coast in 2006 he returned home to NYC with a newfound sense of direction. Since then he has developed a reputation as a highly sought after NYC-area freelance guitarist / pedal steel player / singer. Metzger has played more than 1,000+ live performances throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, and Australia and Scott has performed and recorded extensively with projects of all genres, and is a first call player in genres ranging from singer/songwriter to soul to free form "jazz" to Americana/country. He has performed at esteemed festivals worldwide, such as The Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Bonnaroo, The Newport Folk Festival, Lockn, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, as well as famous and historic venues worldwide; Central Park Summer Stage, The Fillmore San Francisco, Ancient Belgique (Brussels, Belgium), The Blue Note New York, The Ryman Auditorium, Red Rocks Amphitheater, The Fox Theatre Oakland, Lincoln Center, and The Capitol Theatre. Scott has performed, recorded, and toured with acts including: John Mayer, producer Mark Howard, Warren Haynes, John Medeski, Trixie Whitley, Nicole Atkins, Nels Cline (of Wilco), LaLa Brooks (of the world famous Crystals), Phil Lesh & Friends, Shooter Jennings, Erik Deutsch, Eric Krasno, Grammy award winner Mike Farris, Bob Weir, Gene & Dean Ween, Anders Osborne, Galactic, Joss Stone, Moby, Marco Benevento, Stanton Moore Trio, Trey Anastasio, Chris Harford and the Band of Changes, and others. Currently, Scott is a full time member of the critically acclaimed, increasingly popular Joe Russo's Almost Dead, Bustle in Your Hedgerow, and fronts the project WOLF! (Royal Potato Family Records), an instrumental guitar trio whose music has been featured on the hit television series Z-Nation. In addition, Scott has made various appearances on national television, performing on Good Day New York and was featured playing a duet with Nicole Atkins on the season 1 finale of Cameron Crowe's Showtime series 'Roadies.'
