Luis Alberto Guzmán was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the son of Josefina Peña and Luis Alberto Guzmán Sr. He entered the world of film music in his native city making a full length feature film called Quiero ser fiel (2014) (2014). He soon continued working with Quiero ser fiel (2014) director Joe Menendez in his next film Ladrones (2015) (2015).
He was asked to score Veneno (2018) in 2018 for director Tabaré Blanchard. The film went on to win best picture of the year at Premios La Silla in the Dominican Republic and earned him his first award as composer for Best Music.
Some of his other scores include Girasol (2016) (2018 re-edition) and La vida de los Reyes (2021).
Luichy and his wife, Dominican actress Carolina Rivas, live in Santo Domingo and he is father of three children.
