Biography

Gene Gallerano is an award-winning filmmaker, actor and producer. Gene is currently producing a new TV series with Academy Award winners Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi (Free Solo, Meru) for National Geographic. Most recently he was a Co-Producer on The First Wave, a documentary directed by Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land, Tiger) for Nat Geo, Participant and Neon that will be released Fall 2021. For the film Gene spent hundreds of hours embedded in New York ICUs while the city was the epicenter of the global Covid-19 pandemic. He got his start in the entertainment industry as an actor in a bit role in the film Bottle Rocket by Wes Anderson. His narrative and documentary films have played over 100 film festivals around the world from Tribeca to Anchorage and feature many celebrated actors including Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Ethan Hawke, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Peter Sarsgaard, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Denis O'Hare, Olympia Dukakis, Peri Gilpin, Reed Birney, Paul Benjamin, and Lorelei Linklater.
