Jacqui Barcos is a DGA award-winning filmmaker whose credits span the film, television and animation industries. Last year, Barcos co-created and sold historical drama TV series, "The Amazons," to Studio Canal TV with partner Jennifer Warren and Fred Fuchs ("Godfather 3," "Tudors") attached as Executive Producer. She is also in development on two new TV dramas for the International market: espionage series, "The Activity," and true crime procedural, "Undercover." Barcos made her first foray into television by selling her pitch, "The Misfits" to Graham King's GK-TV. More recently, Barcos was commissioned to write the bible for hospital drama, "Mercy's Children," and is in development on an indie thriller set in the world of animal trafficking, "Black Mamba", which will be produced as a Canadian/South African co-production.
As screenwriter and producer, Barcos recently partnered with John Legend's company, Get Lifted, to produce her hip hop animated feature, Central Park Tale. The project will be directed by Daniel Jeannette ("Happy Feet," "Where the Wild Things Are"), choreographed by Jamal Sims ("Step Up", "Hairspsray") and produced in Paris and Montreal by Academy Award-winning studio, Mikros Image ("The Little Prince"). Barcos was honored as a 2015 PGA Diversity Fellow to develop the project. A fifteen-year industry veteran, Barcos has worked for such companies as Francis Ford Coppola's Commercial Pictures/American Zoetrope and Miramax Films. As a US/Canadian filmmaker, Barcos specializes in developing content for the global market, and often consults on international film and television projects. A USC film school graduate, Barcos won a DGA award for her short film, "Mala Sangre." She was recently selected as a Finalist for the prestigious Warner Brothers Directing Workshop. Barcos is a co-founder of "Women In Action," an all-female genre filmmaker's collective and currently serves as a Founding Emeritus Board Member of the Alliance of Women Directors.
