Writer/Director Maurey Loeffler hails from Leroy, Saskatchewan, Canada and practiced architecture before moving to Toronto to pursue filmmaking.
Maurey started as an actor and studied at Cindy Tanas' Acting Studio. He also studied Communications and Film Studies at York University before completing a Television Production program at Seneca@York. While at Seneca, Maurey won the Susan Anton Clark Memorial Award for writing as well as the Michael Monty Memorial Award for achievement in visual storytelling. His thesis project, Malcontents, won best screenplay, best picture, best sound and Jeff Franco won best actor for his portrayal of Davis. Maurey has also been 1st Assistant Director on many projects, including numerous Canadian Film Centre shorts.
Maurey's last short film 'Pooka', starring Katie Boland, Megan Follows, Chris Owens and Tasha Lawrence won the Golden Sheaf for Best Drama at the 2011 Yorkton Film Festival. (Summer, 2011) He is in Pre-production on his next short film 'Washed in the Blood', to be shot in Saskatchewan. Maurey also has numerous features and series in development with his company Choroid Entertainment Inc.
