Biography

Linda Campbell, Writer & Creative Producer. 2007-13 Linda was involved in the production, co-production, development, casting and locations on over 30 short films via her proactive workshops, Write Camera Action! and the Exec Prod & Producer for in house productions before founding Shuga Koated Productions in 2012. The company launched with a 46 min single film, bittersweet 'Mrs Lees and her Ladies', so popular with test audiences it was trailed to wider audiences in two successful stage plays in 2013 and 2014. In-house development for a sitcom pilot began in 2014. That year Linda was also selected as an emerging Producer with her first feature film project, Waylaid, for the EIFF Talent Lab, 2014. Prior to this she was an indie producer selected for the Foot in the door programme by GMACFilm, aimed at bridging the gap between independent producers and industry, 2013. in a previous life ... Linda managed an early career in the oil industry (Project Assist & Heliport Coordinator, Isle of Lewis/Aberdeen) alongside her writing (Taps, Opening Shot, Movie Makers). She became a media trainee with GMACFilm in 2006, (Script Develop /Project Assist, First Light Films / Coordinator, GMACActors Studio), produced her own first short film, and in 2007 with GMAC support launched her trademark proactive screen-writing workshops Write, Camera, Action! Through WCA! Linda united writers, actors and directors at regular monthly workshops and network events, spearheading the group from scripted workshops to production, and Screenings at the CCA, 2011 and Cineworld Cinema, 2012. She continued to develop her own writing alongside freelance work on independent productions; Producer Asst, (Seance Fiction) Script Development/Producer, (Arts in the City/ Aye Write), producing early tasters of her work (Living without Mascara, Mrs Lees, Gaz & the real thing), training & personal development. Linda left WCA! in 2013 to focus full time on her company slate, keeping in touch with many colleagues now working in industry in their chosen fields, as well as her network of contacts and resources in the local community, colleges and business. And many friends! Workshops Archive - Write, Camera, Action! 2007 - 2013 Linda founded and ran Write, Camera Action! workshops on a regular monthly basis, with an average 40/50 folk a session, age range from 18 - 80. She cast and coordinated sessions, script edit & development, and helped many into production VIA a growing network of contacts and resources, as well as their own initiatives, productions and screenings. WCA! was hugely proactive in the filmmaking community at grass roots level and was utilized by industry who sourced cast and crew, and integrated students with real work experience on small budget projects, incl. Screen Academy short film, North Lanarkshire Council, City of Glasgow College, producers on short, pilot and feature and many others. Linda also work shopped in colleges, a children's residential home and writers groups, including Strathkelvin with patron Author Margaret Thomson Davies.
