Eric Lehning

Biography

Eric Lee Lehning was born in Hendersonville, Tennessee on February 1st, 1981. His father, a record producer, and mother, a therapist, raised Eric and his three brothers to embrace the arts. Eric showed a talent for illustration in his early years and wrote his first pop song at 7. He attended Sumner Academy in Gallatin, TN and graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1999. Eric moved to San Francisco to major in computer graphics at the Academy of Art University, but after the first semester changed his major to film. His student work includes a short film adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's Egotism or the Bosom Serpent, a melodramatic biopic about the life and work of Nikola Tesla, and a feature script about the fictional assassination of Napoleon. After college Eric's interests became more domestic. He moved to Oakland with his girlfriend and took a job at a bookstore. He continued to write, but it wasn't until the Deagol Brothers called with the challenge of an independent feature that Eric recommitted himself to the arts and moved home to Nashville. Then, when production began, he disappointed his colleagues by shirking his directorial responsibilities, secretly dating his leading lady/co-star, and creating more drama than art. He attempted to salvage his standing with the Deagol Brothers during post production by taking on the sound design for the movie. Currently he is working on a graphic novel and singing in the rock bands: Cobra Cheetah Tiger Viper and The Non-Commissioned Officers.
