Biography

Richard Brien is a producer and performer across many medias, including film. He graduated from Louisiana State University and published his first book on epistemology titled, "The Wisdom of Absurdity" at age 26. He took a 2 year hiatus from college to produce several metal sculptures while mentoring under Joseph Jilbert, famed "metal whisperer". He is the founder of Venture Locations, a travel brand that celebrates exploration in the human spirit. Richard was born Richard John Brien II in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the son of Richard Brien and Dianne Foshee. Richard's father is a successful salesman who escaped poverty in Napoleonville, LA. Richard's mother moved from Natchitoches, LA, and was attracted to acting from a young age. Richard credits his success with acting entirely to his mother's initial persistence. Richard credits his sister Mauriel Brien Ainsworth for giving him his artistic influence from a very young age. Richard's parents divorced in 1995. After studying business at LSU for 2 semesters, Richard dropped out of college to pursue metal sculpting. During his 2 year hiatus, he mentored under famed "metal whisperer" Joseph Jilbert. According to Richard, he learned an enormous amount about life, work, character, and the art of selling from Jilbert during that time. Jilbert taught Richard how to weld and produced several works of art together. Richard met Jilbert who at the time was working on his masterpiece, "The Seahorse". During this time, Richard landed the lead role as Bobby Cohn in "The King of New Orleans". Brien later re-enrolled to Louisiana State University to study formal logic and philosophy. He published his first book on epistemology, "The Wisdom of Absurdity" two months before receiving his BA in Philosophy. After graduating, Richard founded the travel brand Venture Locations. He, along with several other business partners created the company for the purpose of "celebrating exploration in the human spirit". Richard continues to innovate and recreate himself. Never satisfied being viewed as merely an artist, he has decided to take on the world of business by building brands that encapsulate his philosophy. Richard is often quoted, "The purest form of philosophy is doing".
