Ron Crabb's interest in art was discovered as a young boy in Morton, Illinois and blossomed while self-studying famous American artists such as Norman Rockwell, NC Wyeth, and John Singer Sargent.
His entertainment industry career began upon his hiring at KABC TV in Los Angeles. In short order Ron revealed his aptitude as a lead designer, creating TV show main titles, network graphic packages, graphics for videos, award shows (Oscars, Emmys and Grammys) TV promos and visual effects.
Ron's experience also included working at Planet Blue and Pittard Sullivan Design. He has won numerous BDA Awards (Broadcast Deign Association), Houston Film Festival Awards, and Emmy nominations.
Capitalizing on his hyper-realism technique and love of film, Ron entered the feature film visual FX industry and was hired at Cinesite in Hollywood in 2002. His first film was 'X Men 2' working on visual effects concepts and matte paintings. He continued freelancing in the film industry working with Christov Effects on many feature films and soon received membership into the exclusive Visual Effects Society where he was also nominated for matte paintings in the film 'Speed Racer'.
Ron has continued working in television visual effects with Engine Room, Redi Effects, Ring of Fire, Milne FX, and numerous others. In 2008 Lynda.com did a 'Creative Inspirations' documentary on his work.
In 2011 a new opportunity came along to work at Big Fish Games in Seattle, again utilizing his devotion of realism to amplify the companies "Mystery Case File" projects, doing environmental illustrations using Cinema 4D and Photoshop.
Throughout his career in entertainment Ron has also been successfully selling his original oil paintings through well known art galleries in both Scottsdale, Arizona and Vail, Colorado.
Ron continues to work with companies in Los Angeles, London, and Seattle doing film and TV visual effects, game illustration and print illustration. And when he has time, he still loves to do fine art.
