Bernice Thurman Hunter

Bernice Thurman Hunter was born on 3 November, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her interest in writing started during her childhood. Her first published work was at age 48 when the Toronto Star published the short story "A Grandchild Can Make Life Beautiful Again". Her first book, "That Scatterbrain Booky was published in 1981. Two more 'Booky' novels followed: "With Love from Booky" (1983) and "As Ever, Booky" (1985). Other novels written by Hunter include: "Hawk and Stretch, A Place for Margaret" (1984), "Margeret in the Middle" (1986), "Lamplighter"(1987), "Margaret on Her Way" (1988), "The Runaway" (2001), "It Takes Two" (2002) and several others. In 2001 she was appointed Member of the Order of Canada for her literary contributions to the arts. She died on 29 May, 2002 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.
