Guzmán García

In 2005 he graduated as a BA in Communication Sciences with specialization in visual arts at ORT University of Montevideo. In that period he runs a series of short films that tour several festivals: "End", "Antonella" and "Basil". In 2008 he works as assistant director of feature-length documentary "Cachila" directed by Sebastián Bednarik; also performs the editing of this film which is selected for the Work in Progress of the Berlin International Film Festival. In 2010 he makes the editing and co-writing of the film "Mundialito" directed by Sebastián Bednarik. In 2011 this film receives the FIPRESI award for Best Editing and Best Documentary. In 2012 he co-screenwriter the documentary in development "Maracana" winning of several awards as Ibermedia for development and co-production and ICAU Award as Best Telefilm Documentary . In 2012 he ends the direction of his first feature documentary "Love Still". It was released in the official competition of IDFA, International Documentary Festival Amsterdam. In 2013 his film participates in the following festivals: IDFA (Holland), FICG (Guadalajara), Hot Docs Toronto (Canada), New Zealand IFF (New Zealand), Docs Barcelona (Spain), Festival of Medellin (Colombia), LAFF Utrecht (Netherlands), Cinemaissí Helsinki (Finland), Festival of New Latin American Cinema of Havana (Cuba), Making Geneva (Switzerland), and Uruguay in Doc Montevideo, Festival Detour and Film Festival Punta del Este (award best Director by the young jury). The German agency Rise & Shine became interested in "Love Still" and acquired the film for its catalog, after which he made for television sales in Switzerland, USA, Estonia, China and Russia. Throughout his career in film production he has played a variety of roles such as directing, editing, assistant director, editor and writer, always maintaining a particular interest, intimate, social issues with a strong emphasis on everyday stories that make impact on society.
