Biography

Li Guang Shortly after graduating from Beijing Normal University with a major in Film Directing, Li Guang began to work for some of China's top directors. Then she became Director Zhang Yimou's assistant in the film Hero for her outstanding work on his earlier films Not One Less and Happy Times. Li Guang again worked as Assistant Director for the 2002 film Fly My Heart, which won Best Film award at the Lyons Film Festival in France. In 2002, she independently directed 99 Again, which was later awarded Best Short Film at the Annual Beijing Student Film Festival. It has also been screened at the 9th Hong Kong Short Film Festival and Oberhausen Film Festival in Germany. During 2003--2006, she became an Advertising Director and made a lot of Advertisements. Besides, she was the selected writer for the magazine Journey and traveled in many countries, e.g. Korea, Philippines, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Russia, Spain... Li Guang independently directed Search for Mermaid in Desert in 2006. In the same year Li Guang was selected as one of directors of Yun Nan New Film Project. She finished the filmlet Search for Mermaid in Desert in 2007. (was selected as a finalist for the Asian Short Film & Video Competition of the 10th International Women's Film Festival in Seoul, Korea, 2008; won Best Foreign Language Dramatic Short Film at Southern Appalachian International Film Festival in the USA, 2008; was screened the Forth China Independent Film Festival, 2008) finished the documentary film One and Six in 2008.
