Biography

In his storied career in entertainment and new media, Charlie has created major media properties for Disney, AOL, and American Greetings. In addition to supervising the development of Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, which was based on his original idea, "Bambi in Africa", Charlie created some of the Internet's formative brands, including "Santa's Home Page" (which he produced as an ABC TV special with Brandon Tartikoff and Will Vinton), "Electra" (acquired by Oxygen), "Love@AOL" (acquired by Match.com), and Blue Mountain (acquired by American Greetings). After serving as Chairman of American Greetings Interactive in 2005, Charlie returned to his roots in entertainment as Founder and Producing Artistic Director of the multi-award winning New Musical Foundation, which produces readings, workshops, and festival productions of new musicals. Importantly, all rights are reserved by the authors. Through The New Musical Foundation, Charlie has produced twelve readings, ten award winning festival productions, and three off- Broadway shows. In the spring of 2015, Charlie is proud to reunite with No Rules Theater Company to produce the world premiere of Who's Your Baghdaddy at Signature Theater in Arlington, VA. Charlie is also Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Drama Desk award winning NY Musical Festival, an annual summer showcase of more than 30 new musicals now in its eleventh season. Over 300 NYMF alumni productions have been seen in 48 states, 60 countries, and five have gone on to Broadway, most notably Pulitzer Prize winner Next To Normal. Charlie earned his BA Degree from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the Art Institute of Chicago.
