Joe Sekiya

Joe Sekiya was born and grew up in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He attended Wheat Ridge High School where he and his friends first started to make movies for class projects. Joe would often request that he be able to produce a film for class rather than write a paper. He graduated in 1997 and then attended Metro State College with an interest in Marketing. In 1998, Joe met Jamin Winans and together formed Double Edge Films with the intent to produce thought provoking films reminiscent of the ones they loved while growing up. Double Edge Films was created in October of 1998 with the sole intent to produce the feature film 11:59. In the mean time Double Edge Films produced two short films while trying to acquire financing for 11:59. Those two shorts are Blanston and The Maze. Blanston played at the 2003 Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California. The Maze was a semi-finalist in the 2004 Moondance film festival in Boulder, Colorado. In the summer of 2003 all the financing for 11:59 was secured and Double Edge Films began principle photography in the Fall of 2003. In 2005, 11:59 had its world premiere at the prestigious Montreal World Film Festival gaining credibility with the positive review in Variety after its first screening ever. 11:59 has gone on to play numerous film festivals and winning several awards throughout 2005 resulting in a distribution deal through Showcase Entertainment. Most recently Joe produced another short film about a DJ who can turn back time with his turntables titled SPIN. To this day Spin has played in over 60 film festivals and has won over 40 awards. The popularity of this film has caused the Double Edge Films web server to crash, gained the #1 spot on both Atom Films and iFilm and still is considered a very hot viral video all over the world. In 2006 Joe moved to Los Angeles and is currently an agent at Imperium 7 Talent Agency.
