He started playing guitar at 8 years old. On August 8, 2010, Nergal was sent to Gdansk Medical University Hospital due to illness, but it was only until August 24 that he was diagnosed with leukemia. All Behemoth gigs until November 2010 were canceled. It seemed that chemotherapy would be ineffective, but luckily a bone-marrow that matched his was found and he underwent the transplant.
