Michael Costner

Biography

Michael grew up mostly in the far reaches of Los Angeles County. Living and working around the U.S. and Europe after University, he wrote his first feature film scripts, many of which have earned honors in the world's top competitions including the Academy's Nicholl Fellowship and the Austin Film Festival. Projects he wrote, directed and produced began receiving Official Selections and Audience Awards at festivals including the Los Angeles International Film Festival, Playhouse West Film Festival, and the Rhode Island Film Festival. He also worked as an executive assistant at Sony Pictures Studios to top-level executives in order to learn the ropes of the studio side of the entertainment business while making independent short films and features. Michael has written a slate of other projects for film and television that are now in various stages of development and production. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting, a Juris Doctorate in Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business from Pepperdine University, as well as a filmmaking diploma from the New York Film Academy.
