Tim Riel was born in Jamaica Queens, New York and raised in the sticks of New Jersey. His father, an irrepressible Filipino Irishmen, taught Tim to honor people and their struggles, and to find beauty in the midst of hardship. His mother was a prolific reader and a poet; in fact, Tim ranks her as one of the great Irish poets. Growing up, he excelled in sports becoming a state champion in high school football, and later, a state champion in college tennis. His love of 70's movies inspired Tim to pursue a career in filmmaking. Bold from the get-go, his writing had a major impact on Los Angeles theater with the cult-favorite play, Timothy and Charlie. Based on the chance meeting between Timothy Leary and Charlie Manson in Folsom Prison, the play drew critical acclaim for its incisive character study and potent use of multimedia. Tim Leary, with a beautiful young woman on his arm and a bottle of wine in hand, was a regular attendee before his final days on this plane. Moving on to guerrilla filmmaking, Tim Riel wrote, directed, and produced the independent feature and Golden Film Festival hit, Reversal of Misfortune. And now, he has fulfilled a lifelong dream by completing a project based on the infamous scientific study, The Milgram Experiment. The short film, Shocking takes viewers on a wild ride into the heart and conscience of an ordinary man committing unspeakable acts in the name of science. Shocking was the official selection of the Hoboken Film Festival 2013, the Big Apple Film Festival 2013, as well as the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema 2014 where it was nominated for four awards including Best Featurette, Best Director of a Featurette, Best Screenplay--and starring actor, Jamison Reeves took home Best Actor in a Featurette.
