Gilbert Banks, the Chairman and C.E.O. of Gilbert Banks Films, was born in Harlem New York and started in the film business as an Actor at the age of 10. In 1994 Gilbert Banks graduated from A. Phillip Randolph High School and attended Binghamton University as a Fine Arts Major. In 1998 Gilbert Banks graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in acting. Before, during, and after College, Gilbert Banks appeared in countless plays, appeared on a few television programs such as Law and Order, and attained roles in independent film projects. In 2002 Gilbert Banks enrolled into New York University to continue his film studies. Gilbert Banks graduated from New York University in 2005 with a greater understanding and appreciation for the film business. While attending New York University Gilbert Banks started his own production company 1st X Every X Productions L.L.C., currently Gilbert Banks Films LLC. Gilbert Banks Produced and Directed his first feature length film Eye Was Blind in the summer of 2004 while still pursuing his Graduate Degree at New York University. Eye Was Blind presented a challenge due to the fact Gilbert Banks and the majority of the cast and crew were working full time jobs during principal photography. Ultimately Banks decided to shoot Eye Was Blind during 4 consecutive weekends for a total of 8 shooting days. In spite of this scheduling dilemma, Eye Was Blind has won the Best Feature Film Drama Award in the Largest Film Festival in the World and continues to gain official selections throughout the country. In 2005 his company co-produced the award winning short film "Ode to a Pagan Prince". Ode to a Pagan Prince was Produced, Directed and Written by Michael J. Doyle Jr. who was the President and C.E.O. of then Polaris Entertainment Group LLP. In 2008 he completed writing his next feature film entitled "Ghetto Dada". As of 2008, Gilbert Banks is collaborating with investors to fund "Ghetto Dada".
