Scott Brion is a screenwriter, producer and music supervisor who appears on VH1 and other media outlets, where he has been interviewed as an expert on music and popular culture.
Brion is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, from which he received a degree in Journalism.
Prior to writing feature films and for television, Brion was a journalist who has written feature stories and reviews (with an emphasis on music and popular culture) for Rolling Stone, Harper's, The Los Angeles Times, The All Music Guide, The All Movie Guide and BAM, among other publications, and for the A & G Newspaper Group, Yahoo! Music and the United Feature Syndicate.
Utilizing his knowledge of music to segue into music supervision, Scott has served as the Music Supervisor for three feature films, two shorts, a documentary, a TV pilot and six commercials.
Among the talent included in those projects are Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee Chloë Sevigny, Golden Globe winner Sandra Oh, Emmy Award winner, Tony Award winner and Oscar nominee Stockard Channing, Emmy nominee Lucy Liu and Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis.
The films have won awards such as Best Picture (35-mm Division) and Best Cinematography (35-mm Division) at the Long Island International Film Expo, Best Picture at the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival, Best Lead Actress at the Los Angeles Action of Film Festival, Best Supporting Actor at the Los Angeles Method Fest Film Festival, and the International Family Film Festival "Spirit" Award.
Brion was Music Supervisor for the soundtrack CD, "Music from the Motion Picture 'Pee Stains and Other Disasters'," released by Blue Rat Records.
He has served as the Music Producer for various benefits and fundraisers including for the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, Mark Begich for U.S. Senate, The Impact Fund, Mother Jones Magazine, and the "Halloween" Cast & Crew Reunion Celebration at the American Cinematheque.
Scott has appeared as an on-camera commentator discussing music and popular culture on several episodes of VH1's Behind the Music and Driven Presents series, and on other television and new media programs, as well as on the radio, including the United Stations Radio Network and the Westwood One syndicate.
He recently optioned two books which he is currently adapting into feature film screenplays. He will also produce the films:
One is a political thriller based on a true story, which was written by a Pulitzer Prize-winning author.
The other is a true story memoir depicting an arena of World War II which has yet to be dramatized in a feature film.
Those projects come on the heels of "The Christmas Spirit," a comedy-adventure feature film assignment which he co-wrote for producer Dean Devlin ("Independence Day") and director Rob Minkoff ("The Lion King").
Another screenplay he co-wrote, "Rory Storm and the Hurricanes," a rock 'n' roll drama-comedy, has 'Martin Katz' ("Hotel Rwanda") attached to produce and Bronwen Hughes ("Forces of Nature") attached to direct. Scott will also serve as Co-Producer on the film.
Brion served as a Script Consultant for the feature film Divorce Invitation (2012) starring Jonathan Bennett ("Mean Girls"), Elliott Gould ("Ocean's Eleven"), Paul Sorvino ("Goodfellas") and Jamie-Lynn Sigler ("The Sopranos"), which was released in June 2013.
