Kyna Morgan

Kyna Morgan is a writer, comedian, script reader, researcher, and creative consultant. Her comedy is mainly political satire. She has worked as a film publicist, film festival strategist, and in various crew positions. She created Her Film Project in 2010 to profile and support women filmmakers and filmmakers of color. In 2020, she co-created and began co-hosting a US-UK podcast, "Meshes," (after the Maya Deren film Meshes of the Afternoon), about shorts and feature films that deserve attention and discussion. Several of her articles on African American women filmmakers of the silent era and early sound period are published in the Women Film Pioneers Project (Columbia University, 2013). Her other academic work focuses on the sociopolitical nature of horror cinema, and how film festivals create community identity.
