Biography

Mark Kenneth Woods is a multi-award winning filmmakers and one of Canada's most prominent independent LGBTQ2+ voices. His work has screened in over 400 festivals and galleries around the world, including Paris' Centre Pompidou and The British Museum in London, and has been broadcast on television in over a dozen countries. In television, Mark is best known as the creator and star of the TV and web project "The Face of Furry Creek" (OUTtv, Bell Media Fund), 3 seasons of the world's first all-LGBTQ sketch comedy show "The House of Venus Show" (OUTtv, here! Network, Pink TV) and his hugely successful commercial work including Starbuck's first LGBTQ-themed commercial "Coffee Frenemies" starring Bianca Del Rio and Adore Delano. In more recent years, Woods has gained notoriety for his documentary work including "Take Up The Torch", "This is Drag" and "Two Soft Things, Two Hard Things", an award-winning feature-length documentary that explores how colonization and religion have shamed and erased traditional Inuit beliefs about sexuality and family structure. In 2019, Woods released his new docuseries "Pride", an LGBTQ+ history series, to coincide with he 50th anniversary of Stonewall.
